The 8D Sound was founded in the summer of 2020 after COVID-19 halted live performance everywhere. The eight distinguished horn players in the group are all ages and come from all walks of life but are connected by their musical education lineage and love for French horn. The 8D Sound was started on the basis of celebrating the Conn 8D and its rich history in American horn playing, from Hollywood studios to Concert Halls. The group records music together to uplift classical horn playing and with the hope that they encourage the younger generation of musicians to continue playing the Conn 8D. Steven Juliani was inspired by The 8D Sound and wrote “Explore” for the octet.

The 8D Sound is made up of eight musicians: Michelle Baker, Wei-Ping Chou, Julie Landsman, Julia Pilant, Geoffrey Pilkington, Robert Reardon, Kevin Rivard, and Nathaniel Silberschlag.
